STRATEGIC

GRANTMAKING

With its strategic grantmaking efforts, the Foundation identifies a specific community need and proactively seeks out partners to address that need.

RESPONSIVE

GRANTMAKING

As a responsive grantmaker, the Foundation distributes grants in response to requests from community groups for programs and projects that fall within the Foundation’s mission.

FOUNDATION

PROGRAMS

In addition to grantmaking, the Foundation may run its own programs and projects, including the Crestmoor Neighborhood Memorial Scholarship.

PROGRAM STRATEGY FRAMEWORK

The Foundation’s Program Strategy Framework, adopted by the Board of Directors and the San Bruno City Council in 2015, guides the Foundation’s activities.  It provides the structure and outline of the Foundation’s charitable programs and serves as the guiding document for accomplishing the Foundation’s mission.

ENDOWMENT STRATEGY

The Foundation Board of Directors has earmarked $15 million of the restitution funds as an endowment with a long-term investment strategy and plans to spend up to $54 million on strategic projects over the next seven to ten years.  The Board is in the process of selecting an investment adviser to manage the Foundation’s investment portfolio and assist in the development of the Foundation’s investment policy statement.

COMMUNITY LISTENING CAMPAIGN

The Foundation's program and endowment strategies reflect the public input received through the Foundation's 2015 Community Listening Campaign.

The San Bruno Community Foundation seeks to accomplish its mission through a "three-bucket" program strategy approach:
